About Us

Hi and welcome!

I am so glad that you joined us! My name is Jill and I’m the writer behind Homeschool Nomads. If you are here to learn a little bit more about who we are and why we travel fulltime, then you came to the right spot!

I am the mother of 4 wonderful children. One boy and three girls! My husband Tony and I are the ones behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly, or as smooth as can be expected with a family of 6.

Riley our oldest and only son. Then we have our three daughters Lilya, Gwendolyn, and Jasmine.

Homeschooling – Roadschooling – Worldschooling – Unschooling

We decided to homeschool our kiddos when our oldest was only 2 years old. Our journey as homeschoolers has been ever-evolving as time goes on and the kids continue to grow.  Also, with each additional child added to the mix, things always seem to change.

We began our homeschooling journey by doing bookwork, some curriculum work, and local homeschool classes. Then it changed into more learning using technology. We used many iPad apps and online training.

Now as we travel fulltime, we have come to realize how much more our children are learning by experience. Or Experiential Learning. Some may call this Worldschooling, other’s unschooling.

I’m not much on labels, but I will tell you that our ‘homeschooling’ does not look like it did a year ago and it will most likely change again in a few months. We change as we see what works best for our family.

Where are we from?

All 4 of our children were born in Minnesota near family, where Tony and I grew up. I used to work as a Behavior Analyst once I graduated Grad School in Illinois. However, I decided to stay home with our kiddos and work as a birth doula a few years ago.

I worked part-time as a trained birth doula and supported over 50 women across 3 years of giving doula support! Being a doula filled a huge need for me, however, the winters really got to me. We always knew that we wanted to move away from the snow and travel often.

So, after a LONG winter, we decided enough was enough! Let’s follow our dreams!

Life is worth Living – Follow your Dreams

We decided that life is too short. It is not worth it feel down and miserable every winter for 6 months straight…there is WAY more to life and so much more to see and learn!

So we set off to find a way to travel fulltime, and we did! Click here if you are interested in learning more about how we make an income while we travel.

In May 2017, we bought our family’s RV and current home. We are now living in a 33-foot class C traveling around the USA while homeschooling our children and learning right alongside them.

We are the Homeschool Nomads!!
